In this season of joy, have you thought about others living in the U.S.? Have you realized that almost one-half of the people living in the U.S. are poor or are existing on income so low that they are living in poverty or are only scraping by on earnings that classify them as “low-income” according to the recent Census Data.
Hard to believe? Check out this summary of the census data as reported by CBS News and others. “About 97.3 million Americans fall into a low-income category, commonly defined as those earning between 100 and 199 percent of the poverty level. Together with the 49.1 million who fall below the poverty line and are counted as poor, they number 146.4 million, or 48 percent of the U.S. population.”
In addition to this, it is getting worse. The spread in income between the poor and the very rich is getting worse and the percentage in the middle-class is shrinking.
I’ll be thinking about the underlying reasons for this as I go into the New Year and I don’t think it is due to either the Democrats or the Republicans. Is it greed?

I do think it is greed, we need more people with a servant’s heart. This post is timely at any time of the year.
